William "Bill" Eugene Thomas, 90, of Marysville, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in McLaren - Port Huron Hospital, of natural causes.

Mr. Thomas was born March 8, 1927 in Port Huron to the late Eugene and Beatrice I. Thomas, and was a lifelong resident of the Blue Water Area. He married Joanne B. Fiedler on October 11, 1952 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on September 29, 2013, after 61 years of marriage.

Mr. Thomas' education journeyed through the Port Huron School systems, graduating from Port Huron High School. A brief portion of his late teen years were spent sailing the Great Lakes for multiple steamship companies; handling various duties - including steersman. He served in the Naval Medical Core (Pharmacists Mate), stationed in California - during WWII.

Bill Thomas spent the majority of his 44 year career as a Service Planner for the Detroit Edison Company, providing power distribution to multiple counties in and around both Mt. Clemens and Port Huron. His profession included additional studies at St. Clair County Community College.

Mr. Thomas was an accomplished swimmer, a devout husband, and an amazing (miracle-like) provider to his wife and seven sons. A historian of varied interests; he primarily related to nautical ships/travel throughout our Great Lakes, as well as our country's timelines of war. He was capably able to provide related "stories-n-tales" of both - to engaged listeners, often.

He is survived by seven sons, Dr. Michael J. (Jeannie) Thomas, Gregory C. (Geri) Thomas, Dennis G. Thomas, Peter A. Thomas, David J. (Cheryl) Thomas, Dr. Robert P. (Susan) Thomas and Jerome C. (Karri) Thomas; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and his brother, Lloyd H. Thomas.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas will lie in state at Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. The Reverend Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
