Mary M. Rankin 92, of Port Huron, died November 8, 2017 in Port Huron.

Mary was born May 27, 1925, in Port Huron, to the late Ira and Quinnith Carpenter. She married William J. Rankin in Port Huron in 1942. He preceded her in death on July 18, 2007.

Mary helped out with the family business established by her father as Carpenter Quality Meats, later co-owning it with her husband, Bill.

Mary enjoyed spending her time golfing, bowling, playing games and cards. She and her husband extensively traveled the U.S. and Canada in their motor home during retirement, visiting many states and national parks. Later, they sold their motor home and wintered in Sebring, Florida for several years.

Most of all, Mary enjoyed her family. She was truly delighted as her family grew over the years, and always had time for a visit, and took a genuine interest in her family's well-being.

She is survived by her five sons William (Rocio) Rankin, James (Ruth) Rankin, Gerald (Betty) Rankin, Robert (Susan) Rankin and Thomas (Gyla) Rankin; many grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; her brother, Robert; and her sister Betty.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mass offerings may be made to Holy Trinity Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the caregivers at Marwood Nursing Home, in particular to Jim and Karen.
