Ivan George Smith, 92, of Port Huron, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

He was born February 10, 1925, in Peck and was a lifelong resident of Port Huron. He married Ellen L. Smith on Sept. 30, 1950 in Port Huron.

Ivan served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was employed with the Port Huron Fire Department for 34 years. He had a great passion for golfing, going to the beach with a Budweiser and loved people. He was an exceptional man full of warmth and love.

He is survived by his daughter, Julie C. Snyder (Shawn); son, Gregg S. Smith; daughter, Angela M. (Mark) Smith-Snyder; granddaughter, Hana Snyder; sister, Helen Galimore; sisters-in-law, Jean Maurer and Gloria Philp; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017 in Lakeside Cemetery Chapel. The Reverend Shirley Seely will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation Michigan Chapter.

Arrangements are by Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
